Plateforme pétrolière gravitaire – Hibernia

The Hibernia oil platform is an example of how the slipforming technique is adapted under extreme working and weather conditions. For the first time, a platform was put to the test against the impact of a floating iceberg. The exterior ice-belt walls are water resistent and formed in a 1.4 m thick, spiked circle. Upon final installation in the oil field, they are filled with 650,000 tons of ballast.
